Put away those P2P programs. There is a way to search for music using Google. Their is a query that you can put into google and it will find the music you want to play. Although it's still not perfect it is a new way to find music. What's the query you put into google?

intitle:"index of" (mp3|mp4|avi) song.name. -html -php -asp -cf -jsp

The song.name is the name of the song, band names or even cd name. If it's indexed by google then you will be able to listen to the music. There is just a few things to remember. Their must be a period (.) for everyspace in the name you are searching for and it must have a period (.) after it.

For example:

Nine Inch Nails: intitle:"index of" (mp3|mp4|avi) nine.inch.nails. -html -php -asp -cf -jsp
Smashing Pumpkins: intitle:"index of" (mp3|mp4|avi) smashing.pumpkins. -html -php -asp -cf -jsp
Smashing Pumpkins: intitle:"index of" (mp3|mp4|avi) umbrella. -html -php -asp -cf -jsp

It's not a perfect system but it does work pretty well. I can usually find the song that I am looking for in the results. Give it a try and post your experiences here.

Ilan, this has worked for me quite well. I had to mod the search string, but am able to get get results with:

Ex: intitle:"index of" modest mouse .mp3

I can't remember what happened with your search strings. I think I got zero results for several searches and gave up... but yeah, the above does swell for finding music on the go, especially onsite at clients when I get some tune stuck in my head, don't have the CD or USB key around, and just need to hear it! smile.gif
